We have to start with a truly enormous thank you to all those who have committed to being Hulks next year in the One Hundred Hulk Challenge. We wanted to wait until we reached the one hundred mark before we sent out this first email, so the fact you are receiving this means we have already *smashed* the target! There are currently 109 Hulks on board and we are still keen to make this a magnificent record so please continue your sterling efforts in recruiting people to get involved.

We will send emails to you as the year goes on to give you any information you need. Here is everything you need to know at the moment:

1) Signing up

The date of the half marathon is Sunday 24th March 2019 (you may wish to consider booking the next day off work too if you are thinking of joining in with the after-run celebrations!)

We are keen for everyone to register for the half marathon itself as soon as possible. To do this, visit:

https://register.primoevents.com/ps/event/HastingsHalfMarathon

Click 'Register' in the 'Half Marathon without EA Competition Licence' section.

Enter personal details. When you reach the Team Competitions (non running club) section, enter the following into the charity team box:

Hastings Hundred Hulks

It is really important to get the wording and capitalisation right on this or you won't be registered in the team. Probably best to just copy and paste it from here.

2) Training - "It's a walk in the park..."

At this point, we want to stress again that this challenge has nothing to do with finishing the half marathon in any particular time. Everyone participating as a Hulk is doing so at their own speed, in their own time. You can walk, jog or sprint it - as long as we are all together at the starting line we will have completed the challenge, and the important thing is raising as much money as we can. For those who want to get fitter and feel like meeting some fellow Hulks, we will be having monthly meetings in Alexandra Park and gradually increasing the distance we run together. Again, this is optional, but if you want to join, the first of these will take place on Sunday 22nd April at 10am, meeting at the bandstand for a walk/light jog to start things off. We hope this will give everyone the chance to say hello and have a chat.

We will update you each month as to when the next run will be happening. Dates will also be posted to our Website and Facebook page.

Winston is already excited about the "Hulk Race", although he has no idea just how gigantic it is becoming! For those of you who don't know much about A-T, which he was diagnosed with at the age of 2, there is information here at www.atsociety.org.uk. The charity have worked with us on so many levels since the diagnosis and we wouldn't have coped without them. They are an incredibly dedicated and determined team. We are currently working on starting a personal charity for Winston. Details of fundraising coordination will follow. We are happy to answer any questions you have via email.

Well, that's all for now, all that remains to say is...

HULK SMASH!

With love,

Sara and Joe
